What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an ‘injectable biostimulation treatment’ containing hyaluronic acid that helps to rebuild the lost collagen and elastin in the dermis caused by the ageing process. Dr Louise uses Profhilo treatment as a natural skin enhancer, to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, plump and hydrate the skin, and create a naturally glowing youthful complexion.

The benefits of Profhilo include deep skin hydration, the smoothing out of fine lines and wrinkles, the boosting of collagen and elastin levels and dermal remodelling over time. Your complexion will appear healthy, hydrated and glowing. Unlike dermal fillers which are also made from hyaluronic acid but tend to stay in the place they’re injected, profhilo spreads within the skin to treat the whole face (or neck) giving an overall refreshed appearance to the skin itself.

Profhilo treatment boosts and stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin, remodelling and boosting the deep supporting dermis layer of the skin. When Profhilo is injected, our skin is rehydrated from the inside and over the following 3-6 months post-procedure, the cells producing collagen and elastin are stimulated, for a longer term result restoring the overall quality, tightness and smoothness of your skin.

  • There are five injection points on either side of the face which ensures an even distribution of the product. It can feel like a little bee sting going in but only lasts 20 seconds. If you’re doing the neck also there will another 10 injection points.

  • Usually two to three sessions spaced one month apart are required to bring the skin hydration to baseline. A third treatment may be required for patients with particular lax skin. After this a maintenance session every 3-4 months is advised. This will maintain the skin plumness and hydration and will continue to cause collagen and elastin stimulation.

  • Best results will be seen one month after your second treatment.

  • Small swelling at the injection points should subside within 24 hours. A small amount of bruising can rarely occur but will fade away after a couple of days and can easily be covered up with make up. The small red swellings can last for a little longer on the neck.

  • The results from Profhilo last 9 months to 1 year. Results will never fade if you continue maintenance sessions as advised.

  • Absolutely yes it can. Profhilo works extremely well in combination with other aesthetic procedures. Please discuss potential options with Dr Louise.
